The Planets Suite – Playday
Saturday 15th September 2018 10.00am – 4.00pm
with our new Musical Director, Christopher Hoggarth
Cornbow Hall, Halesowen
All players are welcome.
The day will start at 10 am with registration and then start playing at 10.30. There will be a break for lunch and players will need to provide their own packed lunch. Hot drinks will be provided throughout the day. Players will also need to provide their own music stands.
Provisional timetable:
10:30am – 11-30am Initial play-through, full orchestra
11:30am – 11:45am Coffee / Tea break
11:45am – 1:00pm More detailed work, full orchestra
1:00pm – 1:30pm Lunch
1:30pm – 2:45pm Sectionals: Wind & Strings
2:45pm – 3:00pm Coffee / Tea break
3:00pm – 3:15pm Rehearse challenging sections, full orchestra
3:15pm – 4:00pm Final performance, full orchestra
Music will be provided but to make sure that we have enough parts it would be helpful if players could download their own parts from I.M.S.L.P. – here is a link to the relevant web page – http://imslp.org/wiki/The_Planets,_Op.32_(Holst,_Gustav)
The cost will be £5 for students, £10 for orchestra members and £15 for non – members.
In order to save time at registration and to give some idea of numbers it would be helpful if people could contact us to pre-register and tell us which instrument they play. We will collect the fee on the day at registration.
